ABSTRACT
During October 1995, the University of East London hosted the 21st International Symposium of the European Faculty of Land Use and Development, organised by Dr Richard Bullard. One of the characteristics of the Faculty is that its meetings are hosted by Institutions who define the theme of the symposium. All participants are expected to present and deliver their papers, which are then discussed. This book is based upon the papers delivered and discussed at this symposium. All papers have been extensively re-written and edited to incorporate both the results of the discussions that took place at the symposium and the developments that have subsequently taken place in this, very dynamic field of activity.
