ABSTRACT

Chapter four introduces three major case studies to show how the idea of intelligent organisation and the process focused design has been applied in a range of industries in both services and manufacturing and in profit, not for profit and social enterprises. The cases illustrate the differing demands and complexity of different situations while simultaneously highlighting the structural invariances which enable the utilisation of a set of standardised ways of describing the organisation. The benefits realised by the subject organisations are articulated. This chapter will enrich the readers understanding of the idea of intelligent organisation and show them how a thoughtful interpretation of them offers new and helpful insights.
