ABSTRACT
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book specifies the rules by which three-job families managed household work contradictions whether effectively or ineffectively. It assesses the increasing prevalence of household work contradictions in three-job families. The book then reviews the relevant literature on how families seek solutions to the problem of household work contradictions. It also argues the need for an articulated approach to study the household division of labour and the behind-the-scenes orchestration of family life. The book assembles a framework that addressed the contemporary debate on dualisms in sociology and made connections between the macro institutional and the micro interaction orders. It then examines the ways in which wives handled their personal goals and role definitions in order to manage their dilemmas. The book also explores how household work contradictions impacted on the whole family: on husbands and wives individually and as a couple.
