ABSTRACT

This essay represents a different strand in the Russian and Bulgarian tradition: the pedagogical one. Translation pedagogy is different from what it is in the West, where it was until recently ghettoized inside the “workshop” in most educational institutions. In many cases, that workshop would profess to deal with translation and translations while in fact catering to the wishes and desires of the frustrated creative writers participating in it, often with minimal competence in any language not their own.
