ABSTRACT

In order to put some flesh and blood on the bones, this chapter presents some actual cases of the Italian Anti-corruption Authority’s intervention and of independent judicial action. This is also a way of providing some further bottom-up understanding of the public’s perception of corruption.

Chapter 8, “Corruption case histories”, offers specific case studies of where the authority has taken action and of judicial action on corruption that occurred in the years under observation. Cases include the Milan 2015 Expo, a major international exhibition, the Municipality of Rome, and the ministry of public works. It also illustrates an example of anti-corruption “clinic”. Each case reports what the anti-corruption authority did to prevent corruption.
