ABSTRACT

Chapter 4, “Comparison of the countries’ anti-corruption efforts”, draws some conclusions from the investigations of individual institutions. Each characteristic of the public anti-corruption organizations—such as, for instance, institutional setup, prevention, specific measures, and the relationship to the government’s transparency effort—is analysed in depth through the diverse approaches of the different countries. Common traits are identified, as are limits to the current approach. Specific instruments for corruption prevention are highlighted. The anti-corruption plan emerges as an interesting tool for prevention.
