ABSTRACT

The project life cycle starts when an idea is conceived and continues until the results of the project are taken out of operation. It includes a high-level overview of the project development and execution process within which projects are developed, acquired or implemented and put into service. The project life cycle also includes activities leading up to the project start and activities after the project delivery. Every project has a definite start and end, consumes resources to provide deliverables and is usually divided into phases or delivery stages. Both public and private companies recommend that projects should be delivered in phases. When the project team bypasses some of the planning by rushing through the early phases, they run the risk of delivering the wrong, incorrect or incomplete project. Their thought process seems to follow the philosophy that they know what they want to achieve, and they know how to do it.
