ABSTRACT

With the upsurge in economic activities in the People’s Republic of China, there is a growing need for people to manage such activities. This chapter summarizes the status of management education in China and its relationship to the economic reform process. Included in this chapter is a detailed discussion of the foreign assisted management education programmes as well as programmes offered by Chinese universities and colleges. In the main the potential benefits of management education are now thought to be appearing but the activity needs further expansion. This will be difficult since funding in tertiary institutes – the traditional provider of management education – is limited.
