ABSTRACT

This chapter summarises the main arguments and findings of the six major chapters investigating the linkages between military spending and the rate of profits from a Marxist perspective. The chapter highlights the major economic models on the nexus of military spending and economic growth – a popular topic in defence and peace economics research, the Military-Industrial Complex, Marxist crisis theories, the role of military spending in Marxist thought, and the findings of the two major chapters examining the effect of military spending on the rate of profit for more than 30 major countries over six decades using a range of econometric methods.
