ABSTRACT

When trying to modify dysfunctional behavior, all-around cooperation and communication is of the utmost importance. In an educational setting a collaborative triangle consists of the parents in one corner, the teacher in the second corner, and the child in the third corner. The initial scope of this team is to foster an environment of comfortable communication. In such a climate children feel more open to communicate distress, instead of utilizing dysfunctional behavior. Furthermore, parents and teachers that see eye to eye will more clearly communicate expectations thus minimizing confusion. Healthy collaboration alone may be sufficient in lowering dysfunctional behaviors. It is an environment that nurtures positive change and thus highly favorable for the implementation of behavioral interventions such as The Success Diary.
