ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the practical steps to finally implementing a Success Diary. The highlights of this process are positivity, consistency, and a focus on capability. Prior to initiating the period of monitoring delineated in the previously prepared tables in The Success Diary, the collaborative triangle comes together for a positive ceremony. Moving forward, the teacher monitors the child, marking down when he/she successfully practices the predefined skill set. Motivation conversations may be required, as needed, throughout the intervention. The primary goal is to redirect the child to a sense of capability and a belief in growth. A final meeting is held at the end of the intervention with the intention of celebrating success. After this, a step back is required in order to allow the child further opportunity to practice the acquired skill set. This final step is key to encouraging a self-sustaining change.
