ABSTRACT
The aim of this chapter is to outline the ties between Islamabad and Beijing in a historical perspective. The analysis addresses the roots, as well as the evolution, of the strategic partnership, in order to shed light on the historical aspects of Sino-Pakistani relations. The chapter discusses China’s role during the Indo-Pakistani conflicts as well as trade relations and arms procurements between 1951 and 2000.
