ABSTRACT
This chapter explains several important concepts that emanate from the formal model of Islamic economics and treats the essence of the Islamic instruments within this formal model, with contrasting concepts differentiating the Islamic methodological world view. Further, the scope of the maqasid al-shari’ah is broadened into the widest socio-scientific inquiry to help in the development of the socio-economic affairs (muamalat) of the society.
