ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at some stories which describe different intervention techniques. It considers the consequences of cultural interventions conducted with cannons, from a position of power and with campfires, from a position of love. The chapter deals with people who practice magic in far-flung regions of the world and right around the corner in the organizations. When leaders, consultants and advisors attempt to heal or repair a totem, it is important that they respect the organizational culture. Deep Democracy offers a treasury of tools to ensure that the voice of the minority is heard in dialogue, which reduces sabotage and makes cultural healing a process in which everyone is involved. Healing is frequently reserved for religious leaders or ancestors, for shamans, imams, priests, consultants, interim directors and coaches. The Candomble priest or Western consultant attain their magical role through three mechanisms: a unique social and informational position, legitimized power and expert skills and knowledge, and transformation.
