ABSTRACT

Following a review of the literature I recognised from the work of writers such as Leininger (1978), Spradley (1979), Kluckhohn (1953, 1971), Field and Morse (1991) and Brink (1976) that in order to gain some insight into the factors that influence the practice of expatriate nurses I needed to explore their values. To search for a way in which I could identify these values I carried out a preliminary exercise using an anthropological framework within the context of transcultural nursing.
