ABSTRACT
Chapter 1 is an introduction to multimedia and so it defines multimedia, lists the building blocks of multimedia, and enumerates the different applications of multimedia on a computer and a mobile or smartphone device. The evolution of multimedia system from earlier versions to modern-day devices are also presented briefly.
