ABSTRACT
Irregular migration from South Asia to Europe remains an under-researched topic. Focusing on the situation of Indian irregular migrants in Europe, particularly in France, this chapter will discuss how current migration policies at the European and national levels affect labour migration from India. The devastating consequences of the current criminalisation of migration will be addressed: indeed it affects migrants’ prospects of social mobility and economic integration, as well as their health and wellbeing.
