ABSTRACT

This research aims to explore the intersectionality between gender and age in leadership at PAUD. The theory of intersectionality helps to understand how children construct leadership in a kindergarten context. We conducted focused ethnography at a kindergarten in Bandung. Based on the findings, children and teachers construct leadership based on gender and age. Gendered perception about leadership results in unequal access to leadership experience for boys and girls. Children’s expression of leadership were also hampered by age. Boys and girls cannot express their leadership when there are adults present.
