ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to understand the application of Character-based management of kindergarten in West Bandung-Indonesia. This research is a qualitative case study. The data was obtained through observation and interviews addressed to teachers and principals. Field notes of teachers and principals in managing the character-based school culture and climate were also compiled. The findings indicate that teachers and principals have designed, implemented, and evaluated character-based management through faith, piety, and nationalism approach. The three of them are applied separately and integrated in learning. Teachers and principals also pointed out that the school culture and climate management can develop students’ discipline, independence, responsibility, and cooperation.
