ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to describe the leadership role in kindergarten based on the nomenclature of the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation, No. 15 of 2018, as regards to the Assignment of Teacher as Principal, Article 15, namely the Principal Workload and Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 16 of 2018, relating to the Fulfillment of Teacher’s Workload. In the nomenclature, it was explained that the role of the principal was to carry out managerial main tasks, develop entrepreneurship, and supervise teachers and education staff. With the aim of developing schools and improving school quality based on eight national education standards, however, looking at the results of the analysis in the literature, researchers see contradictions between these roles. Therefore, it is anticipated that this chapter can endorse further research to discuss more about leadership roles.
