ABSTRACT
In today’s digital era, gadgets are a communication tool that emerge because of technological advances that initially have a major function to facilitate the lives of adults. However, many children have been introduced to gadgets by their parents for various purposes including playing games, taking photos, watching videos and many other related activities. Parents often neglect to control gadget use by their children. As a result, unintended and unavoidable negative impacts are emerging. One of the studies in Indonesia revealed that there were some negative impacts from the disruption to children’s health. This chapter aims to find out the effects of using gadgets and the role of parents in the use of gadgets in early childhood. First, researchers will explain the various effects of gadgets on early childhood. Second, researchers will discuss about the use of gadgets in early childhood. Third, researchers will explain about the importance of the role of parents to supervise, control and pay attention to all early childhood activities in relation to gadget use.
