ABSTRACT

A 4-year-old boy presents to the emergency department because of “something in the back of his throat.” Mother states that earlier today she was looking in the patient's mouth when he was yelling and she happened to notice “something in the back of his throat” that she had never seen before. The patient is otherwise doing well. Parents deny any ingestion of a foreign body. Mother denies any recent illnesses. The patient has been eating and drinking well without any difficulty. No fevers, vomiting, diarrhea, choking, difficulty breathing, drooling, or abdominal pain noted.
