ABSTRACT

A 16-year-old, left-hand-dominant girl was slicing apples with her mother when she accidentally cut her right fifth digit. She denies numbness or paresthesias, but states she cannot move her finger. She is fully immunized and has no prior hand injuries. On examination, she has good capillary refill and intact sensation, but is unable to flex her left finger at the proximal or distal interphalangeal joint.
