ABSTRACT

A 13-year-old female presents to the emergency room because of a painful bulge on her lower back. She has been complaining of pain in the sacral area for the last 3–4 days especially with sitting. The bulge has been there for 6 months but has not caused any issues. She has also been having a fever for the last 2 days with a maximum temperature of 101.3°F. There is no active drainage, no overlying redness, or changes in bowel pattern or urinary frequency. There is no pus or blood in urine or stool. She has had a normal appetite and oral intake. No history of trauma. She is otherwise healthy.
