ABSTRACT

The mother of a 10-day-old female brings her daughter to the emergency department because she has “swelling of her breasts.” The patient was born full-term, vaginal delivery, no complications. Mother was not taking any medications during the pregnancy and denies any current medication or drug use. Mother noticed the swelling over the past few days and it has been gradually increasing, but the patient otherwise seems to be doing well. The patient has been feeding well on breast milk, urinating well, and has returned to her birth weight. No fevers, breast discharge, or redness reported by mother.
