ABSTRACT

An 11-year-old girl is brought to the emergency department from school after she complained of chest pain and shortness of breath. She was walking down the hallway when she suddenly felt her heart beating rapidly with a burning sensation in her chest. Her palms became sweaty. Her symptoms lasted about 5–10 minutes. The school nurse called emergency services. The girl denies any upper respiratory tract symptoms, fever, or previous history of a similar episode.
