ABSTRACT

A mother brings her 13-year-old son to the emergency department with a right eye injury. The patient states that he was running through the forest behind his house when he ran into the end of a small branch approximately 20 minutes prior to arrival. The branch made direct contact with the right eye and he felt immediate pain. The mother reports that the patient does not wear glasses and he had “perfect vision” prior to the incident. The patient denies any loss of consciousness and no other injuries were reported.
