ABSTRACT

One facet of Makoto Iida’s preparation for foreign expansion was the recruitment of employees experienced in doing business in the international arena. Though Iida felt there was widespread international need for his company’s security services, he knew that the cultural, social, and political context of each country was unique and demanded respect. By approaching internationalization through merger and acquisition, Iida buys time. Nihon Keibi Hosho’s first attempt at internationalization was in conjunction with Brambles Security Group, a component of Brambles Industries Limited, an Australian-based firm providing services in Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, and New Zealand. In the Asian arena Iida’s approach to internationalization has been characterized by collaboration of effort with foreign entrepreneurs. Taiwan’s recent modernization and success in international trade have resulted in rapid economic progress and a significant increase in the standard of living of the population at large.
