ABSTRACT

Makoto Iida had to listen attentively to his father’s countless repetitions of stories of his business life – how to conduct business, how to use money wisely, and how to live one’s life as a human being. Throughout his life, from early childhood on, his mother has reminded him of the need for humility regardless of his business achievements. In his later business dealings, he would insist on payment-in-full when the contract for service was drawn up. He began to give serious thought to what type of business would be most appropriate for him. At the same time, Iida felt that any business venture in which the primary entry requirement was money would not provide him with the challenge he was seeking. Security service as a business opportunity was a concept new to Iida. Having successfully introduced a new type of business to Japan, Iida is now frequently asked to speak on starting a new business.
