ABSTRACT

Changes in the field of education require teachers’ acquisition of specific knowledge of technology and the skills of its effective use in the classroom. This chapter covers how the substitution, augmentation, modification and redefinition (SAMR) model provides structure for scaffolding within the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework to assist K-12 teachers and higher education faculty in their efforts for implementation. This chapter will discuss SAMR and how it aligns with UDL. This chapter will also provide examples and a matrix of how to integrate technology into the curriculum through UDL/SAMR.
