ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on characteristics that reflect the values and behavior of therapists who work intuitively whether they are conscious of doing so or not. Clinical intuition rests on the inner life of the therapist: how self-aware they are; how they communicate with and treat others; their values and worldview; and their self-expression. Each of these characteristics and values shapes their inner world and is communicated to the patient whether verbalized or not; this lays the groundwork for what is possible in the application of intuitive processes.
