ABSTRACT

The new digital economy is gaining momentum. The convergence of computer, the entertainment, and telephony industries has propelled change geometrically. Mothers and children are joining in at warp speed on using personal computers to complete money management, entertainment, and educational tasks. The most elementary form of online education is that of videotape, whereby classes are mailed to the resident. The telecommunication's industry has been responsible for wiring the business, educational, and residential communities with the fiber optic technology necessary to network business administrators, educators, and home residents. Educational strategies used by family members will include distant learning whereby online courses can be delivered to the home at the convenience of the resident. As families search for their independence and destinies, the intertwining of the needs of the workplace with those of the family is inevitable. Relationships between parents and their children will continue to change. New sets of choices will emerge as families adopt a new rational choice model.
