ABSTRACT

This chapter investigates which commonalities and differences are observable with regard to resilience constructions among spatial development actors in the research area. The cluster analysis results in three adaptation cultures against heat that can be differentiated according to their preferences for building optimisation, deconstruction, and green surface design. The chapter considers the evaluations by respondents regarding the necessity of climate-mitigation measures up to 2025 in a principal component analysis. Field affiliation is less likely to contribute to the separation of climate-mitigation cultures, with the important exception of environmental protection organisations, which are clearly distinguished from the other fields by higher proportions of highly motivated groups. Protection generally counts as a traditional coastal protection strategy. A paradigm shift from protectionist strategies to integration and retreat can be traced back to a general paradigm shift in worldview from the Human Exceptionalism Paradigm to the New Ecological Paradigm.
