ABSTRACT

This chapter presents art methods to be used in family therapy do not require the therapist or family to have any previous experience in, or knowledge of, art. An example of warming up and engaging in a shared activity is creating doodles, which are an avenue of live art-making that frees the creator from having to worry about his or her artistic ability or experience. The chapter presents the discussion on what it is like to be in someone else's shoes when each family member draws around their shoes on separate pieces of paper which are then placed in the room for members of the family to step into each other's shoes. It also explains the process of drawing family portraits which are then discussed among the family members.
