ABSTRACT

The questionnaire used in this study can broadly be divided into five main parts: socio-demographic data, courtship and marriage data, a General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28), an Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and an opinion survey including two attitude scales, the Social Sympathy Scale and the Social Distance Scale. The initial draft of the questionnaire has been tested by a group of five couples married for different lengths of time, who were friends of the researcher in a local church. They were all interviewed later with regard to the ease of answering the questionnaire, and clarity of the questions asked. The researcher has made a set of answer cards with big prints for the interviewee to choose. To test out the final draft of the questionnaire, the first five couples of the schizophrenic group were interviewed separately with the questionnaire.
