ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book provides an overview of established approaches to information. It explains in terms of support-bargaining some of the difficulties of established information theory, serving at the same time as an introduction to the idea of support-bargaining. The book also explains how an information interface is created through the process of support-bargaining and money-bargaining. It describes the use and role of information in economic transactions, contrasting the understanding of neoclassical economic theory with that of money-bargaining. The book deals with the psychological approach to economic choice associated with Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky. It considers the media theory of the 'Toronto School', focusing on the ideas of Harold Innis and Marshall McLuhan. The book lists all the material published on support-bargaining and money-bargaining.
