ABSTRACT

In the Third Committee, there are several more female delegates than had been in the Commission on Human Rights. Discussions and conflicts on religious and cultural values and customs relative to the rights and freedoms of women are actualized in the Third Committee. Contention over the interconnectedness of women’s political freedom and their social and economic rights in private become even more acute in the debates as Shaista Ikramullah from Pakistan brings sharpness to the debates from her experiences working on the Constitution of Pakistan.
