ABSTRACT
Concerns about the housing price hikes in many Chinese cities have been growing over the past 15 years. The driving force behind the price hikes has been a heated topic of public and academic debate. The question has been examined extensively from the demand side. Some researchers attribute the boom to the brisk demand for new housing by those who are preparing for marriage or demanding better and larger housing units.
