ABSTRACT

The partial study being presented here is a first step towards a more comprehensive update of the system of OECD leading indicators. While the system has worked relatively well since it was set up in its current form (see in particular Artis, Bladen-Howell, Zhang, 1995, and Nilsson, 1987), it would be useful to examine its actual performance and, where necessary, take a fresh look at its methodological foundations.
