ABSTRACT

This chapter traces the structural and systemic origins of authoritarian populism, resurgent racism, and intensifying sexism as economic and political weapons of a capitalist order in decline. It tracks differential income flows to their source in unequal property relations within the capitalist economy. As a countermeasure to growing economic and cultural polarization, it offers a new political and philosophical vision. By synthesizing key features of the work of Herbert Marcuse and Aldo Leopold, I propose GreenCommonWealth as the architecture of a new eco-socialist and humanist world system.
