ABSTRACT

One litmus test of a successful workshop is that the team feels ownership of the outcome of the workshop and the state design. A goal of the workshop is to have an empowered team willing to take charge of its own value stream and initiate the improvements to make the work easier with better quality results. The kaizen worksheet, as represented can be used to convert the workshop kaizens into an action plan. As the team members return to their regular jobs after a value stream mapping workshop, they have the tendency to focus on the work at their desks and the daily fires that need to be put out. A team at a Midwest company, located in Denver, held a workshop to value stream map their development system. A dozen or so members of their new product development group met for a 3-day value stream mapping workshop.
