ABSTRACT
Under Dhaka Ahsania Mission's (DAM) strategy, education is the vehicle through which socio-economic development of the women and girls is brought about. The programme components are basic education, awareness creation, training, group formation for savings and co-operation, skill development training, and credit offering for undertaking income generation activities. The mechanism of upliftment of women under DAM programme works through education and mostly through continuing education. The innovation in the DAM's continuing education programme is that the follow-up and the easy-to-read materials which are provided to the beneficiaries are specially developed to serve several purposes for development and empowerment of women. DAM's Women Development Programme through education is a package programme which also includes environment education and awareness creation. For a programme of human resource development, for that matter women development through education, what is most important is the availability of adequate reading materials.
