ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The globalisation of markets has characterized the business landscape with an unprecedented, accelerating, and complex mix of risks and opportunities. Particularly in natural resource procurement markets, large global companies are called on to confront sustainable global goals and local problems, which require high investments in local areas and the involvement of local public regulators and civil society as a whole. A single large company, even if global, cannot easily achieve effective and efficient solutions with sustainable levels of risk. The aim of this chapter is to illustrate some initiatives where a collaborative approach among competitors (business coalitions) has facilitated long-term solutions that can generate shared value creation for all actors involved.
