ABSTRACT

In this paper, we propose a design method of hull form, called wake field design system, that enables arbitrary control of wake field. The proposed method is formed by uniting the data mining method of hull-form and wake-field database with the hull-form blending (morphing) method. In comparison with conventional studies which identify a hull form by characteristic parameters, the system identifies a hull form by unique number in hull-form database, which gives high degree of freedom and scalability to the proposed design system. In addition, we demonstrate the validation of the proposed method by leave-one-out cross validation method. The result shows the great agreement of generated hull form by the proposed system and correct hull form. Furthermore, relevant knowledge is revealed by the proposed simple datamining method (based on k-nearest neighbor algorithm), which is seen to be very useful for this complex database analysis.
