ABSTRACT

The activities in this chapter focus on the problem of moving something somewhere. The ‘something’ may be living or non-living and the mode of transport could be self-propulsion, use of natural phenomena such as wind and water or using mechanical means. In moving something, carriers need to consider speed, cost and route; how the ‘something’ is to be carried; whether it is fragile or likely to move around in transit; and how heavy it is.
