ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a description of two 10-day courses on Audio Visual communication, one in Biology and the other in Chemistry to High School teachers on a Master’s programme at Concordia University, Montreal, in the summer of 1975. The main factual and skill instruction was carried by two self-teaching activities, audio-tape units and audiovisual exercises. The opportunity to function in a group situation and to explore an area in depth was provided by group project work and opportunities for discussion both individually and in groups were provided throughout the course. The first morning of the course was devoted to completing a checklist on the use of the equipment and to an introduction to the course. This consisted of an orientation to the materials and methods of the course given as the one and only formal lecture session in the course and this was followed by a look at the equipment.
