ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses some possible policy instruments relating to dynamic and innovative networks. According to D. Maillat, the concept of milieu is based on the notion of ‘constructed territory’. The embeddedness of relations presents a problem for the nature of a single relation is determined by the nature of the other relationships of the network, and vice versa. Activities occur in the form of activity chains. Certain activities are seen by the actors to be highly connected to each other and in this way constitute natural entities. At the core of each economic and social activity is the need to obtain control and use resources optimally. These resources include everything from production inputs to information, orders, accounts, technology, patents, know-how, Research and development, design skills, marketing distribution, and political support. Synergy in networks was explicitly dealt with by Network on European Communications and Transport Activities Research researchers.
