ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the focus and contents of the book. It explains what enterprise policy is, how it has been used by governments and the specific context of the UK. The chapter explains the book’s aims and objectives and introduces the historical institutionalist approach that we adopt to analyse the history of enterprise policy in the UK. The chapter concludes by outlining each chapter in the book.
