ABSTRACT

The objective of this chapter is to study and simulate the industrial system for harmonic and flicker assessment. The system consists of an AC arc furnace, DC and AC motor-drive loads, and the static var compensator. An ideal three-phase AC voltage source model is modelled to feed electric power to the system. EAF load and SVC model are extensively illustrated in this chapter. The operation of a 6-pulse thyristor bridge rectifier is explained in detail. Simulation and output waveform analysis are given to support the evidence for harmonics and flicker assessment.
