ABSTRACT

Both Acacia mangium and Acacia auriculiformis are leguminous trees from the Mimosoideae sub-family, with A. mangium being categorized as pea flowering tree family species known as Fabaceae. The hybrid between these two Acacia species produces Acacia hybrid, which is more appealing than its parent trees in terms of its strength, durability, physical properties and adaptabilities. A. mangium is a leguminous tree that comes from the Mimosoideae family species. The mean value of moisture absorption and soaking of Acacia hybrid Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL). For the water absorption test, it took two time periods to determine the total water absorption of LVL from Acacia hybrid: 2 hours and 24 hours. A compression test was done to determine the compressibility and elasticity of LVL, especially the one that produced from plantation species. The thicker LVL layers manage to retain high strength due to their lower rupture properties.
